Alteration Basics

Are there items in your closet that you want to wear but they just don’t fit right? In this class, you will learn the fundamental skills to evaluate and prepare your clothing for successful alterations. Students will receive a starter kit of alteration tools and supplies, which is included in the class fee. Starter Kit includes: measuring tape, seam ripper, tailor's chalk, hem gauge, safety pins.


Materials Needed
Bring a personal clothing item that you have wanted to try to alter like a skirt or pair of pants (No knits/stretch, no formal wear, and no denim).

*We will not do any sewing in this class. Rather, it will prepare you for Alterations Studio and other alteration technique classes at Five Eighth Seams.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:

• Up to 48 hours before class: Full refund available only if we can fill your space; otherwise, a 50% refund is provided.
• Within 48 hours before class: No refunds will be issued unless you find someone to fill your space. They can pay you directly as your refund.

This policy helps us manage class capacity and ensures our instructors, who make special arrangements to teach, are supported.
