Kids Sewing Class 1st-4th Grade

This beginner 4 week class is perfect for all 1st-4th graders! In it they go over how to thread their machine and sew a skirt, zipper pouch, and a square pillow cover (time permitting).

All supplies are included in the course fee, and students will be able to select their own fabric. 

In the September session, we will be making a skirt and a bag, time permitting.
In the October session, we will be making an A-Line dress or apron and zipper pouch, time permitting.
In the November session, we will be making pajama pants/shorts and a pillow case, time permitting.
This class meets for 90 minutes; there will not be a finished project each week. 

To reserve your child's spot in a class, the full payment is required. Seats are secured on a first-come, first-served basis. This fee reserves your child's spot in our weekly sewing class at Five Eighth Seams.

Fees: $150
This payment reserves the student's seat in class and includes all supplies they may need. It is due at the beginning of each month. 

The $150 fee is nonrefundable. There are no makeups or credits for missed classes.


Materials
Fabric, and patterns are provided for the children and are included in the cost. Students will pick out their fabric and notions from Five Eighths Seams during their class time. Kids are welcome to bring their own sewing supplies (i.e. pincushion, pins, etc.), but they will be responsible for them. If they lose their supplies, they will not be replaced.


Skills
Students will set up their own machines during class; this will ensure that they understand how to thread a machine. Once children are over the age of nine,  they are allowed to iron in class; if you do not want your child ironing please be sure to let the teacher know. They will not be cutting out their own projects. This may change if you are enrolled in multiple classes. 

Machines
We prefer to provide the machines for class; this helps your child get the most out of the allotted time. If you wish for your child to bring their own machine you will need approval from the teacher. Your child must be proficient in that machine; our Kids Just the Basics is designed to teach your child their own machine. There is no discount for using your own machine. 

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this class, but we highly recommended enrolling your child in a Kid's Just the Basics if they haven't taken a sewing class before. While not necessary, they get more out of the class.
