Draft Your Own Bodice
In this advanced-level class, students will take detailed measurements of their bodies to draft their own bodice pattern. From the paper pattern, students will sew a muslin mock-up to test the fit. From there, students will adjust the fit of their pattern and test again. The pattern students make can be used to personalize commercial patterns, or design their own patterns.
This class is for adults only (18 and older).
Sewing 101 or garment sewing experience are the required prerequisite.
TOPICS COVERED
Week 1: Measure and map out body measurements. **Please wear a tank top or tight-fitting garment in order to take more accurate measurements.
Week 2: Draft a pattern based on body measurements.
Week 3: Adjust pattern via tissue fitting. Sew muslin based on pattern.
Week 4: Address any fit issues on muslin. Revise paper sloper to reflect those changes. Demonstrate how to use sloper to either design one's own pattern, or easily adjust a commercial pattern.
