Sewing School: 5th -8th Grade

This class is designed for students ready to enhance their sewing skills with more challenging projects that cover garment construction, pattern reading, and basic alterations. While each week contributes to a larger project, the steady building of skills is our focus.

What’s Included:

• All necessary fabric and patterns are provided during class

• Use of our in-class sewing machines

• Tailored instructions on advanced machine threading, pattern cutting, and essential alterations like hemming or adjusting seams

Materials & Tools:

• Notions must be purchased separately from Five Eighth Seams.

• Students can bring approved fabric scissors and other basic tools, but any lost items will not be replaced.

Make-Up & Attendance Policy:

• Curriculum Consistency: Since projects develop gradually, regular attendance is critical to ensure that students keep pace with the curriculum.

• Limited Make-Up Sessions: There are no routine make-ups or credits for missed classes. In cases of absence, a few Saturday makeup sessions may be arranged, subject to scheduling and instructor approval. These sessions cover only portions of the curriculum, and missing regular classes is not fully recoverable.

• Advance Notice: Parents should inform the teacher as early as possible about any anticipated absences so potential makeup options can be considered.

Prerequisite:
Students must have completed our Kids Just the Basics program, participated in our Summer Sewing Camp, or have instructor permission to join.
