At Five Eighth Seams we foster a love for sewing by encouraging all sewers to be creative. We love teaching classes that start with the basics and add techniques set by the pace of the student. We can make the class more about garment construction, quilting, crafts or home decor. They will NOT have a completed project each week. This class meets once a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes each week.
To reserve your child's spot in a class, the full payment is required. Seats are secured on a first-come, first-served basis. This fee reserves your child's spot in our weekly sewing class at Five Eighth Seams. If you want your child to take all three sessions, it would be best to sign them as early as possible.
PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE DATES AND TIMES OF YOUR CHOSEN CLASS.
This payment reserves the student's seat in class and includes all supplies they may need. It is due at the beginning of each month.
The $150 fee is nonrefundable. There are no makeups or credits for missed classes.
Fabric, and patterns are provided for the children and are included in the cost. Students will pick out their fabric and notions from Five Eighths Seams during their class time. If they have their own fabric scissors they may bring them, but they must be approved by the instructor as actual fabric only scissors. Any basic sewing supplies (i.e. pincushion, pins, etc.), but they will be responsible for them. If they lose their supplies, they will not be replaced.
Students will set up their own machines during class; this will ensure that they understand how to thread a machine. Once children are over the age of nine, they are allowed to iron in class; if you do not want your child ironing please be sure to let the teacher know. They will also be cutting out their own projects with fabric scissors; if you do not want your child using scissors please be sure to let the teacher know.
We prefer to provide the machines for class; this helps your child get the most out of the allotted time. If you wish for your child to bring their own machine you will need approval from the teacher. Your child must be proficient in that machine; our Kids Just the Basics is designed to teach your child their own machine. There is no discount for using your own machine.
Children must have taken either our Kid's Just the Basics, our summer sewing camps, or have the permission of the instructor.
