Home School Class 4th-12th grade

Homeschool Sewing (4th–12th Grade)
At Five Eighth Seams, we foster a love of sewing by encouraging every student to be creative while building strong sewing skills. Our classes begin with the fundamentals and progress at each student's individual pace. As students gain confidence, projects can focus on garment construction, quilting, crafts, home décor, or other areas that match their interests.
Because our students work on long-term projects and develop new techniques throughout the year, they will not complete a project every week. Our goal is to teach lasting skills, not just finish projects.
Registration & Tuition
To reserve your child's spot, full payment is required. Enrollment is first come, first served, and payment secures your child's seat in our weekly homeschool sewing class.
Please double-check the dates and times of the class you are registering for.
Tuition is due at the beginning of each month and includes all fabrics, patterns, notions, and supplies needed for class projects.
Tuition is nonrefundable, and there are no make-up classes, credits, or refunds for missed classes.
Materials
All fabrics, patterns, and project supplies are included in the cost of class. Students will enjoy selecting their own fabrics and notions from Five Eighth Seams as part of the creative process.
Students may bring their own fabric scissors if they wish; however, they must be approved by the instructor and used only for fabric. Students may also bring basic sewing supplies such as a pincushion, pins, clips, or marking tools. They are responsible for their personal supplies, and lost items will not be replaced.
Skills & Safety
Students will learn to independently set up and thread their sewing machines, helping them build confidence and understand how their machine works.
Students age 9 and older may use an iron during class. If you prefer that your child not use an iron, please notify the instructor before class.
Students will also cut their own fabric using fabric scissors. If you do not want your child using fabric scissors, please let the instructor know in advance.
Sewing Machines
We prefer to provide sewing machines for class so students can maximize their sewing time and receive instruction on machines we know are in proper working order.
If you would like your child to bring their own sewing machine, it must be approved by the instructor beforehand. Your child should already be comfortable operating their machine independently. If they need to learn their personal machine, we recommend enrolling in our Kids Just the Basics class before joining Homeschool Sewing.
There is no tuition discount for students who bring their own machine.
