The class is perfect for anyone interested in learning how to sew, have never had formal instruction, or are new to machine sewing. This class is for adults (18+).

Dive into the world of quilting with our comprehensive 3-Yard Quilt Top class. Designed for beginners and those looking to refine their skills, this class will guide you through the process of creating a quilt top using just 3 yards of fabric. You'll learn to read rulers for accurate fabric cutting, follow a cut list, and master essential piecing techniques like strip piecing, half-square triangles, snowballs, sashing, and borders. We’ll cover how to true up blocks, press seams correctly (an often-overlooked detail that can significantly impact how well your quilt comes together), and assemble your blocks and rows by following detailed diagrams. The book/ pattern will come with the class. The focus of the class is on completing the quilt top. This class is for adults only (18+).

JUST THE BASICS is a PREREQUISITE for this class. It must be taken before the class begins. Beginners or intermediate; bag and adult garments. This class is for adults only (18+).

Learn the beautiful art of smocking in this beginner-friendly class. Over two hours, you'll master the basic smocking stitches and techniques that form the foundation of this traditional needlecraft.

Perfect for beginners, the Quilt As You Go class focuses on quilting the quilt "sandwich" as the quilt top is built, and also covers binding techniques. In this three week class, students will complete a quilt as you go quilt top and bind it. This is a perfect Christmas gift, or great for cozying up during the cold part of the year.

Learn the basics of sewing on knit fabrics. This class is for beginner sewists focusing on construction, not fit. This is a 6-hour course. Come learn how fun sewing with knits can be! This is an adult class only (18+). We have some great patterns to choose from!

In Sewing 201, students deepen their understanding of garment assembly, learn to adjust patterns to fit, and refine their sewing techniques. This class is for adults only (18+).

Make your own Christmas tree skirt in this beginner, three-week class! This circular tree skirt is reversible, approximately 42" across, and will include piping.

Zippered Pillow Cover with Piping (4 hours) Don't want to spend $80+ on pillows for your home? No one does! For under $20 in materials, you can make your own professional-looking pillow covers using fabrics of your choice! During this class you'll learn how to make and install your own piping on a pillow cover and finish it off with an invisible zipper. Take home a handout so you can make more on your own. Come find out how simple it is! Bring your sewing machine, notions, regular zipper foot, invisible zipper foot (if you have one), and a pillow form (we sell these if you dont have one). Fabric, zippers, and cording can be purchased during class. *Must have taken Sewing 101 or have sewing experience.

The Taco Tuesday Pouch is a zippered pouch featuring a boxed bottom, curved top with double zipper, and bias tape seam finishing on the inside. This is a great project for beginners looking to start their journey in bagmaking. These make fun gifts and are useful for holding anything from sewing supplies, makeup, and more.

In this two-week (5 hour) workshop, students will learn to make puff quilt blocks from a charm pack and turn them into a tote bag.

Looking to learn new quilting techniques in a fun, laid-back setting? Join our Block of the Month Club, meeting on the first Thursday of every month from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM throughout 2025! Perfect for all skill levels, including beginners, this club is a great way to expand your quilting knowledge while creating beautiful blocks using vibrant Kona Cotton Solids.

This quilting class uses patterns from the book "Urban Quilting: Quilt Patterns for the Modern-Day Home" by Wendy Chow. In this class, you can make an eye-catching, modern quilt in a range of sizes while learning various techniques.

Come learn how to sew! This class is for ages 6-17. Parents, please plan to drop off and pick up your kids! In this 2.5 hour class we go over the basics of machine sewing and make a pillow case. There is no experience required for this class.

This beginner 4 week class is perfect for all 1st-4th graders! We make 1-2 projects each month, and these projects change from month to month. In the September session, we will be making a skirt and a bag, time permitting. In the October session, we will be making an A-Line dress and zipper pouch, time permitting. In the November session, we will be making pajama pants/shorts and a pillow case, time permitting. All supplies are included in the course fee, and students will be able to select their own fabric for the project. This class meets for 90 minutes each week; students will not have a finished project each week. FALL 2024 | Monday 4-5:30

This is ideal for fifth grade and up. Fabric and patterns will be provided in the cost of the class. Students will use a provided material for projects, and they will get to pick out the fabric. The notions will be bought separate. All students must have a pair of sewing scissors purchased at Five Eighth Seams or approved by the instructor. They will NOT have a finished project each week. Please let the instructor know if you plan on continuing class for another round before projects are picked. This class is designed to do more detailed projects. Please plan to drop off and pick up your child according to the times listed. FALL 2024 - THURSDAYS 4:30-6:00

Are your scissors dull? Drop them off and have them sharpened December 17th! $20 per pair of scissors. Please call the store if you do not wish to pay online.

If you have a group of 4 or more, it will be treated like a class, which is $14.00  per person per hour. Classes that are lecture heavy and not projects like Just the Basics are $15 an hour.  Private lessons are different then private parties as they do not provide fabric or materials for the lesson.

Private Parties

Get everyone together and have a fun night sewing! – NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

4-8 people – 2 hours – $40 a person

*included fabric and supplies to make a zipper pouch
This is not like a private lesson. These are set up for people that just want to have a fun night sewing. Most cutting and directions are done for them by instructors. 

No experience needed. Invite friends, co-workers, family or neighbors. We will provide machines unless you have your own. BYOB- bring beverages and snacks for a fun social night at Five Eighth Seams
